Saffron is a beautiful gentle natured dachshund who is quite happy walking and meeting other dogs and people with no issues.
Her original owners have surrendered her because the female dachshund she was living with has beaten her up quite badly and Saffron has a few scars to show for it. Unfortunately she has been moved about 4 times in the last couple of weeks and is now in care with a lady who has 2 male dachshunds of her own and Saffron loves their company and cuddles up in bed with them. As a result of moving from home to home in such a short space of time she’s very confused and is now quite needy and showing some separation anxiety by barking when left alone. We’re sure that some of this is due to Saffron being so confused about what’s going on in her life and now that she's settling into a dachshund savvy home, this is gradually disappearing.
She is looking for a home with a retired couple who would like an affectionate companion and also take her with them wherever they go. A male dachshund for some company would be preferable.
She is housetrained, desexed, vaccinated and microchipped $200

Darcey weighs approx. 7.5kg who was recently diagnosed with diabetes and his owners were unable to continue looking after him.
He is the most affectionate, happy and loving dog who wants to be friends with everybody he comes across. He has been living as an outdoor dog, but comes inside for his cuddles and to be part of the family when they're home. Darcey is also happy pottering around the garden if you're out for short periods.
His diabetes is managed with twice daily insulin injections which are simple and quick to give and which Darcy takes in his stride as part of his daily routine.
He would be happy as an only or equally happy going with another dachshund and older children to keep him exercised as he loves his walks.
He is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.

This gorgeous boy born and bred in Cairns enjoys the Cairns lifestyle and his owners have requested he stays in the area.
Thomas is very sweet natured; he loves smooching; cuddling and living inside just like all our typical dachshunds.
He is good in the car and loves going on walks but could do with some lead training and re-call if you would like to let him off lead in a safe area.
Thomas is an easy going dog, he has been with another dog (not a dachshund, who passed away recently) and really loved the company, so he would love a friend to cuddle and share a bed with, either dog or human.
He is good with older children and would suit a family or a semi/retired family or couple as long as he gets attention and exercise.
He is house trained and knows all the basic commands.
Not suitable with cats or chooks.
His owner has to work in the outback and can’t have him anymore. His re-homing is due to no fault of his own- he’s great!
NO INTERSTATE OR OUT OF AREA TRANSFERS
De Sexed, Micro Chipped and Vaccinated.
Adoption Fee $400

Thomas thinks it's only reasonable that he gets invited to all sleepovers!
Brodie is a sweet bundle of pure love and affection who adores snuggling up with you on the couch, in the bed, on the floor, anywhere that you are.
He can be a little protective, especially when someone comes to the door, but he soon calms down when he knows they're allowed to be there! Brodie loves his walks and walks well off lead in both parks or at the beach. Like all dachshunds he has a few quirks but is generally a lovely boy.
Brodie would love to go to a retired couple who have lots of time to shower him with love and affection and which will be amply returned by him.
He is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Sweet loving Dachshund who when placed in a structured home where she is the centre of attention is the most affectionate and loving dog in the world. She is active and energetic and loves walks but is also independent and needs some alone time.
Is friendly towards other dogs, but like most Dachshunds is weary of new ones until she gets to know them. Although she like a play with other doggies, Frankie would prefer a walk around the neighbourhood or park.
She loves to walk and have a sniff and smell of the world around her. That being said, once she has found a scent nothing will deter her, not even food, so preferable to keep her on a lead or in an enclosed area where she can run free.
She is an excellent guard dog and protective of the home when strangers come to visit, but give her a treat and all is right with the world. She loves and is highly motivated by food. She knows a few tricks like sit, bed, drop, roll, spin and shake. A real comedian!
Does not get on well with cats and is weary of men. She tends to lung and growl at some but not all men when approach incorrectly. However if caught in time and her attention distracted, this can be avoided.
She is in excellent condition and well cared for and has no serious health concerns.
She loves sleeping in the big bed but does know the command bed and crate and is happy to be in those as well, just as long as it in the room where her owners sleep. She is crate trained, so easier to look after when unwell.
She is being rehomed as she has become jealous of the other female dog in the house. As such she would be suited to a home where someone is home during the day and is who is willing to make Frankie the centre of attention. Could possibly go with a gentle male dachshund, no cats, or young children.
She is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped $450

Although Percy and Bernard are not brothers, the bond between these two could not be closer. So much so that if one is separated from the other (even to go to the vet) they will pine for each other and be very sad.
Percy is 3 years old and Bernard is 2 years old and both are miniatures with Percy being around 5.5 kilos and Bernard just a little bit overweight!
At the moment they are living with a retired couple who are not that active, so they haven't had as much exercise as they would like. Percy and Bernard are great walkers and love to play ball. Having said that, they do adore their cuddles, lap time and both enjoy their big bed where they sleep together.
They don't particularly like other dogs as they haven't been socialised with them and Percy was attacked quite badly by another dog as a puppy.
They have lived with cats and are fine with them so long as the cat knows it's place. Percy has been professionally trained and his previous owner also applied this knowledge to Bernard. They have impeccable manners and know their place in the family. They do bark to defend their home and garden and they like to think they are awesome guard dogs.
Percy and Bernard are not used to younger children but adore kids from the age of 8 upwards. They need to be rehomed together to an active family who will include them in their everyday activities.
Both are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. Adoption fee $550

Basil might be an elderly dachshund but as you can see from the pictures, he’s very much a dachshund of action who quite happily has taken part in boating, exploring, hunting and going on bike rides in his basket.
However Basil’s Dad is a very busy man with his job and up until now Basil has been happy constantly getting up and going off to visit clients for work. Now, Dad feels Basil isn’t enjoying the constant interruptions and would rather retire to a comfy home with more down time and more laps for cuddles. Having said that Basil is not quite ready to put his slippers on as he can still enjoy a walk up to 4km.
Basil is very friendly toward other people and does enjoy greeting all the passers-by at his work place and he takes other animals, large or small in his stride without going into a barking frenzy.
He has been vet checked and given a clean bill of health and is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
If you would like to offer Basil a home please ring Sharman on 02 9940 0745 firstname.lastname@example.org
Penny has come into foster care requiring quite a lot of veterinary work. She had extremely rotten teeth and has now had 8 removed and the rest all beautifully cleaned. She has also been desexed, vaccinated and microchipped whilst in care.
Although Penny has not previously lived in a home she has taken to this luxury with absolute delight and is proving to be an extremely affectionate little girl who loves any human she comes into contact with. She is not a dominant dachshund but a calm one who follows her Mum around, doesn't bark, waits to be lifted on the sofa for cuddles and is crate trained for bed time. She gets on with the resident dachshund with no issues nor with the cat who she just ignores. Penny has also been well behaved when meeting young children.
Unfortunately Penny has early cataracts and extremely limited sight as a result. There is the possibility of surgery but no guarantee that this will restore her vision. She will be going to a specialist for a second opinion but at this stage we're not planning on surgery until we know more. As a result of this she uses sounds and smells to get around and when she first arrived she was bumping into obstacles that were in her way. Now that she's got her bearings this is proving less of a problem and Penny also loves going for rides in the car.
Penny is also undergoing housetraining with great success as well as learning how to use a doggy door.
She will need a home where she can feel safe and be nurtured and loved for the beautiful natured, uncomplaining dachshund that she is.
